![]() NED BEATTY (Dexter Wilkins) is a veteran of more than 60 feature films, 50 television performances and numerous stage productions, working with such industry heavyweights as John Huston, Steven Spielberg, Marlon Brando and Richard Burton. He received an Academy Award&Mac226; nomination as Best Supporting Actor for his role in Network and a Golden Globe nomination as Best Supporting Actor for Hear My Song. Beattys other film credits include John Boormans Deliverance, Silver Streak, Nashville, Superman, Superman II, The Toy, All The Presidents Men, Back to School, Midnight Crossing and The Big Easy. Recent film credits include Spike Lees He Got Game with Denzel Washington, Just Cause with Sean Connery and The Curse of the Inferno, and upcoming films include Robert Altmans Cookie Fortune, which recently opened the Sundance Film Festival and Tom Gilroys Spring Forward with Liev Schreiber. On television, Beatty is probably best known for his role on NBCs Homicide: Life on the Streets. He received an Emmy Award nomination as Best Actor for his role in Friendly Fire opposite Carol Burnett, as well as a Best Supporting Actor Emmy nomination for Last Train Home. Other television credits include Gullivers Travels, The Streets of Laredo, A Woman Called Golda and Celebrity. Beatty has also had guest starring roles in such popular series as M*A*S*H, The Rockford Files, Gunsmoke and The Streets of San Francisco. On stage, Beatty has appeared in the Broadway production of The Great White Hope and at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles in The Accidental Death of an Anarchist. Most recently, he played Captain Andy in the recent production of Jerome Kerns Showboat in Los Angeles and Canada, for which he received the Ovation Award for Best Actor in a Musical. |
