WYCLEF JEAN (Composer) makes his feature feature film scoring debut with Life, but perhaps is better known as the frontman and guitarist for the two time Grammy Award-winning recording group The Fugees.
Originally from Haiti, Jean moved to Brooklyn at the age of 9. The son of a pastor, he loved to play the guitar at an early age, and ended up as a jazz major in high school. In 1997, Jean released his solo album entitled "The Carnival," which was nominated for three Grammys and in 1998, he won the MTV Video Music Award for "Best R&B Video" for the single "Gone Till November."
In 1996 Jean established his charity organization, "The Wyclef Jean Foundation," which provides musical therapy, instruments and lessons to underprivileged children. Recently, he was the recipient of the Patrick Lippert Award given each year by MTVs "Rock The Vote" for outstanding community service.
In addition, Jean has produced songs for artists such as Whitney Houston, Carlos Santana, Gloria Estefan, Mya, Earth, Wind & Fire and the South Park soundtrack.
